About ChantMapper
ChantMapper is a tool designed to assist researchers, musicologists, and enthusiasts in the analysis and comparison in Gregorian chant repertoire.
The platform provides a set of features for analysis of repertoire and then traditions visualization via synoptic tables and also map, making it an invaluable resource for the study of plainchant transmission across centuries and regions.
Origins
ChantMapper started as a bachelor thesis by Anna Dvořáková. Her work, titled "Mapping the Repertoire of Gregorian Chant" (2024), laid the foundation for this platform.ChantMapper is being developed under the Digital Analysis of Chant Transmission (DACT). This project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, aims to advance the study of chant dissemination using computational tools.
